Arte Público Press presents Día at Discovery – A Sweet 16 Celebration of Children’s Day, Book Day, Saturday, April 21, 10am-1pm.
Spring is in the air and so is literacy! Celebrate books, languages and cultures with storytelling, crafts, food and music as El Día de los Niños / El Día de los Libros, Children’s Day / Book Day festivities bloom at Discovery Green. Meet beloved author, founder of Día and advocate of “bookjoy,” Pat Mora.
Stroll near the library to visit with popular guest authors Gwendolyn Zepeda and Xavier Garza. Kids can plant sunflower seeds with Zepeda and cheer for Garza’s Mexican wrestlers—characters and situations straight out of their award-winning bilingual children’s books. There will be an abundance of fun activities and treats for children of all ages!

Día is a daily commitment to link all children to books, languages and cultures. Founded in 1996 by Pat Mora, Día is housed at the American Library Association. Día celebrations are held across the country on or near April 30th.
