Alamo Drafthouse Mason (Katy) presents Girlie Night: BRING IT ON.

Girlie Night celebrates the much-loved but often neglected genre of Slumber Party Movies. You know, the ones where you rewind an awesome kiss and watch it five times while sighing deeply or squeal with your friends when the boy and girl finally get together like you NEVER THOUGHT IT WOULD HAPPEN (even though you've seen the movie a thousand times).

At Girlie Night, you can squee without shame.

I'll be the first to admit that when I was in high school, I thought cheerleaders were kinda lame. I mean, the big hair, the short skirts, the pom poms... what was the point?! But then I saw BRING IT ON, and suddenly, I totally wanted to be a cheerleader. I wanted to shellac my head with hairspray and perform crazy flips in the air and compete at Nationals and shout “Brr! It’s cold in here! There must be some Toros in the atmosphere!” and flirt with a boy just by brushing my teeth because cheerleaders can do all of those things!

At least, they can when they’re played by a chipper Kirsten Dunst, a badass Eliza Dushku (I still think of her as Faith) and a fierce Gabrielle Union. Throw in the adorable guitar soloist Jesse Bradford, and I’m ready to pack up for cheerleader camp. While it might be hard for some people to believe in the awesomeness of BRING IT ON, we know the truth here at Girlie Night, and we’re going to 2-4-6-8 appreciate it! So start warming up your spirit fingers, because it’s going to be a totally cheertastic evening. (And we’ll make sure that no one drops the spirit stick.) (Sarah Pitre)
