Progressive Forum Houston presents Gail Collins, New York Times columnist, and author of As Texas Goes…How the Lone Star State Hijacked the American Agenda, Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 7:30 in the Wortham Center, Cullen Theater.

In one of the most explosive political books in years, Gail Collins declares, "What happens in Texas doesn’t stay in Texas anymore." She says the real story of American politics is how the conservative political agenda hatched in Texas is sweeping the nation through banking deregulation, lax environmental standards, draconian tax cuts, gun ownership, fierceness on states rights, championing sexual abstinence, and more.

She says Texas has become the bellwether of a far-reaching national movement.

Gail Collins became the first woman ever appointed editor of the New York Times editorial page, serving from 2001 to 2007. She remains a popular New York Times op-ed columnist. She also authored what’s now a classic, When Everything Changed: the Amazing Journey of American Women from 1960 to the Present (2009).

She will greet fans and sign books at the end of the evening.
