Enjoy an amazing performing arts season full of classical music, dance, rock and roll, sports-themed music, cartoon characters, patriotic fanfare, award-winning children’s performers and more at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in 2012.

Friday, September 21, CWMP and the Houston Symphony present Evening with Brahms.  Featuring:  Hans Graf, (pictured, photo by Bruce Bennett) conductor, Frank Huang, violin and Brinton Averil Smith, cello. Gates open at 7 p.m.

Celebrate the best of Johannes Brahms Sept. 21 with an evening dedicated to three of his greatest works: Variations on a Theme of Haydn, Concerto for Violin and Cello and Symphony No. 4. Brahms, a German composer and pianist, was one of the leading musicians of the Romantic period. He spent much of his professional life in Vienna, Austria, where he was a leader in the musical scene.

Brahms composed for piano, chamber ensembles, symphony orchestra, and for voice and chorus. He premiered many of his own works and worked with some of the leading performers of his time, including pianist Clara Schumann and violinist Joseph Joachim.

Special guests joining the symphony are Frank Huang, violinist, and Brinton Averil Smith, cellist.

Pre-concert activities in the Fidelity Investments Plaza begin at 7 p.m.
