Music Box Theater takes a musical tour of America with its fifth original production, Travelsty, a show featuring popular music and original comedy in a cabaret theater setting that opens Friday, May 4, 2012, and runs through Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012

“Travelsty” showcases songs and sketches about America’s favorite travel destinations—combined with the joys and difficulties in reaching them. This is a trip on the open road that shouldn’t be missed! Songs included in this music and comedy trek are “Georgia on My Mind,” “Route 66,” “Hotel California,” and many other travel-related favorites.

Tickets are $35 for reserved seating and $25 for general admission and are available online at themusicboxtheater.com or by calling (713) 522-7722. Performances are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays.

The Music Box Theater’s intimate cabaret is at 2623 Colquitt in the heart of Upper Kirby. This storied venue was the original home of Radio Music Theater. Since The Music Box Theater opened its doors in May 2011, audiences have been dazzled and amused by the incredible talents of each of the stellar performers in its cast: Rebekah Dahl and Brad Scarborough (founders); Luke Wrobel; Cay Taylor. Also supporting the cast is G Sharp and the MBT Three--an amazing four-piece band.

About The Music Box Theater - The Music Box Theater’s mission is to provide audiences with a unique mix of live popular music and original comedy in a relaxed “cabaret style” environment. Well-known Houston performers Rebekah Dahl and Brad Scarborough developed the idea for The Music Box Theater in late 2010 as an alternative to the standard fare of Houston performance venues. The concept is to create a space and production that would feel welcoming for all Houstonians, while offering them a mix of music from across the decades. Once the concept was in place, Dahl and Scarborough teamed with fellow performers Luke Wrobel, Cay Taylor and Colton Berry to bring their idea to life. In addition to live music, each show also features original comedy sketches.
