For millions of years, dinosaurs ruled the earth. This summer, dinosaurs are making a comeback – at the Houston Zoo. Come face to face with fearsome creatures this summer with DINOSAURS! At the Houston Zoo presented by Orkin from May 4 to September 3.

This year, the Houston Zoo is featuring 19 dinosaurs (almost twice as many as our 2010 presentation) representing 12 prehistoric species and highlighting those that once roamed Texas, with all but two found in our region.

From the towering brachiosaurus and the massive T-rex to new additions such as the Protohadros and Edmontonia, these animatronic reptiles move, roar and even spit water!

DOZE WITH THE DINOSAURS THIS SUMMER! Summer overnights at the Houston Zoo are chock full of fun and adventure this summer! There aren't any dinosaurs today, but there are animals at the Zoo that have things in common with these prehistoric creatures.  So pack up your sleeping bag and join us for an opportunity to experience the new Dinosaurs exhibit at night! You will also have a flashlight tour of the zoo, participate in interactive activities, meet one of our animal ambassadors, enjoy a pizza dinner, continental breakfast, and more!!

About The Exhibit:
DINOSAURS! At the Houston Zoo features life-like animatronic dinosaurs presented in a wooded, landscaped setting. The Houston Zoo’s horticulture department selected plant species for the exhibit that represent those found in the fossil record including cycads, ferns, ginkos, and monkey puzzle trees.

State-of-the art electronics control the dinosaur’s fluid, choreographed movements, punctuated by spine chilling roars. Along the exhibit’s winding trail, guests will be greeted by knowledgeable guides who can answer questions about each species.

Created by Billings Productions of McKinney, Texas, each dinosaur is built on a steel frame and covered with an intricately designed foam rubber ‘skin’ and painstakingly hand painted.
