“Jesse Jones is one of those vital figures who has inexplicably slipped into the historical shadows. Now Steven Fenberg has given us a wonderful new biography of a man who played a critical role in the most tumultuous years of the American Century, bringing Jones back to vivid life.”—Jon Meacham, author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House and the bestselling Franklin and Winston: An Intimate Portrait of An Epic Friendship.

On June 21, Steven Fenberg will tell the story of Jesse Holman Jones who wielded power comparable to that of FDR, saving a crippled U.S. economy during the Great Depression. At a crucial time in U.S. history and working largely out of the limelight as chairman of the Reconstruction Finance Corp., Jones saved farms, homes, banks and businesses; built infrastructure; and even set the price of gold with FDR each morning in the President’s bedroom.

The Jerry & Marvy Finger Lecture Series, made possible by the generosity of Mr. Jerry Finger and Mr. Marvy Finger.
