On May 17, enjoy an after-lunch escape to Rienzi, the house museum for European decorative arts and paintings at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. At the next Rienzi Gallery Talk, Dr. Melina Kervandjian talks about Christ on the Cross, an oil painting attributed to the prolific and versatile 19th-century French artist Gustave Doré.

This small, devotional work explores an iconic subject in ways that reflect the artist’s thorough study of the Bible as well as his interests in expressing physical and psychological struggle.

The new season of monthly Gallery Talks begins September 20.
