    Classical music's rising stars will align in Houston June 4-July 1 for the Immanuel and Helen Olshan TEXAS MUSIC FESTIVAL (TMF), with performances by outstanding student musicians and distinguished conductors and faculty artists from all over the world. Boasting orchestral masterworks, chamber music, jazz, guitar, voice, and piano, the Texas Music Festival presents nearly 50 performances, master classes and seminars at the University of Houston (UH) Moores School of Music at venues throughout the Houston area and at Texas A&M University in College Station. The one-month music residency is now in its 23rd season.

    PERSPECTIVES 1: TMF Jazz Project: Traditions in Transition
    The TMF Jazz Project is an all-star jazz orchestra composed of our state's finest musicians. Led by director/trumpeter Noe Marmolejo, the program features the best in what's hot in America's native musical idiom.

    PERSPECTIVES 2: Faculty Artist Chamber Music
    "International Tour"
    Take a musical tour of the world to various ports of call, travelling through France (Fauré’s Sonata for Violin and Piano), and ending in Germany (Brahms’ Piano Quartet in A Major), all performed by TMF faculty artists.

    "Made in America"
    Following our International Tour, we explore the music of our own native composers, with Aaron Copland’s Sonata for Violin and Piano, Michael Colgrass’ Variations for Viola and Drums, and Houston composer Pierre Jalbert’s Trio for Piano and Strings.

    PERSPECTIVES 4: Faculty Artist Chamber Music
    "Grand Finale: Instrumental Colors"

    Experience the wide variety of instrumental color on display in a program that includes Jennifer Higdon’s Trio for Piano and Strings and ends with Beethoven’s Septet for Strings and Winds. Along the way, get rustic with Libby Larsen’s Barn Dances.

    Performers include:

    Admission Info:

    Moores Opera House Policy: All children must have a ticket and be capable of sitting quietly in their own seat for the entire performance. Children ages 5 and younger are not permitted at any time.
