    Rienzi Center for European Decorative Arts, MFAH presents a Family Art Workshop: Tales of the Arabian Nights: A Marionette Performance and Workshop, at 1pm Sunday, July 22.

    Family Art Workshops encourage families to come together to create art, write stories and poems, and see performances inspired by the Rienzi Collection.

    Rienzi Center for European Decorative Arts, MFAH presents a Family Art Workshop: Tales of the Arabian Nights: A Marionette Performance and Workshop, at 1pm Sunday, July 22.

    Family Art Workshops encourage families to come together to create art, write stories and poems, and see performances inspired by the Rienzi Collection.

    Enjoy an afternoon of entertainment as Aladdin and Princess Jasmine outsmart Jafar to keep the magic lamp safe from evil hands. This glittering story from “Tales of the Arabian Nights" dazzles all ages as string puppets perform on an elaborate marionette stage. After the performance, master puppeteer Jean Kuecher reveals the backstage secrets and design of puppetry.

    The afternoon continues with a puppet-making workshop in which children create and show off their own puppets.

    This event is produced by the Texas Marionette Playhouse.

    Admission is free, but space is limited and reservations are required. Pleaes call 713.639.7800 to reserve your spot.
