June's Fresh Arts Artist SPEAKeasy features Troy Stanley and team from the Singularity Transmissions project and interdisciplinary group {exurb}. Join us for a fun and fascinating discussion with both of these interdisciplinary groups.

    About Singularity Transmissions:
“Singularity transmissions” is a sculptural interactive tower designed to simultaneously converge the voices of up to 15 individuals into one unified transmission through the use of tin-can phones.

Houston artist Troy Stanley has pulled together a team of artists, engineers, and dreamers to create this monumental 40-foot tall sculpture with a 100x100-ft footprint with audio recording equipment that has the capacity of recording 15 tracks simultaneously and glow on the desert playa of Burning Man 2012, an annual art event and temporary community based on radical self expression and self-reliance in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada.

    About {exurb}:
{exurb} is an interdisciplinary group that consists of various artists and engineers including Johnny DiBlasi, Stephen Kraig, Patrick Renner, Sam Singh and Eric Todd.

Since its formation, the collective has cultivated a strong working relationship and produced ambitious works. The group consists of a sculptor, video/digital media artist, writer/sound artist, software engineer, and electrical engineer who give input when combining a range of processes into the works. They are currently partnering with Houston’s premier hackerspace, TX/RX Labs, on an interactive water-wall installation.
