Ray Sherrod has always been fascinated with discarded materials. During his days as a printmaking student, a used matchbook or an old shoe could easily provide the inspiration for his next artwork. In his more recent shadow box and maze constructions, these discarded objects become the artistic materials themselves and are placed in proximity of each other to tell a story.

Ray studied art at the University of Houston and earned his MFA from the University of Texas at Austin. Ray has had long career as a corporate trainer in Houston and has worked as a Training Facilitator for the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center since 2003.
