The 2012 American Festival for the Arts Summer Concert Series presents an AFA Chamber Music Recital, Saturday, July 14 at 5:00pm at Memorial High School Performing Arts Center PERSHING MIDDLE SCHOOL.

Enjoy the talents of AFA's gifted young musicians as they step out of the orchestra and choir and into the spotlight. Our high school piano, woodwind, brass, percussion and string players will perform in a variety of chamber music groups, playing everything from Mozart String Quartets to lively brass fanfares. AFA's exceptional vocalists will perform as soloists, presenting a diverse selection of opera arias, art songs, and musical theater pieces.

American Festival for the Arts (AFA) provides outstanding music education programs for youth, assembles renowned faculty who have a passion for teaching, offers challenging programs that help students broaden their skills, and features performance opportunities that benefit the community.

Since 1993, AFA has been training young musicians from across Southeast Texas through challenging musical experiences with a broad, in-depth curriculum. Each year, the AFA Summer Music Conservatory serves 300+ instrumentalists, vocalists, pianists and composers from 100+ area schools. AFA’s year round programs, which include the AFA Chamber Music Academy, the Houston Girls Chorus, the AFA Composer Institute, and Education and Outreach activities, provide additional experiences throughout the school year under the instruction of Houston’s finest professional musicians and educators.

Collaborations with leading local arts organizations including Houston Grand Opera HGOco, Houston Ballet’s Ben Stevenson Academy and Da Camera of Houston’s Young Artist Program, ensure the highest quality experiences for the AFA students.
