The 2012 City ArtWorks Teachers' Exhibition features the diverse artwork of a few City ArtWorks’ instructors. Opening Reception Friday, July 27, 2012, 6:30 PM- 8:30 PM.  On view through  August 31 at the Cloister Gallery,  at Christ Church Cathedral in downtown Houston.

City ArtWorks is an arts education organization that offers after school art classes for over 3,000 elementary and middle school students a year in the greater Houston area. The organization’s mission is to “a leading visual arts education resource, fostering skill development and self-expression through creative programming, collaborations, and exhibitions.”

For the Teachers’ Exhibition, all of CA’s instructors are invited to submit their artwork to City ArtWorks for consideration. The organization’s program director, Rolando Reyna, reviews and selects the pieces to be exhibited. These works for sale typically include original drawings, paintings, and two-dimensional assemblage.

A portion of the proceeds benefits the City ArtWorks scholarship program.

Founded in 1982 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, City ArtWorks is funded in part by the City of Houston through Houston Art Alliance. City ArtWorks is grateful for the support it receives by numerous other corporations and generous individuals.

Parking: IMPORTANT NOTICE: The Parking Lot on Texas and San Jacinto is now closed! This will have little to no affect on Sunday parking as the Binz Garage on the corner Fannin Street and Texas Avenue will still be available free of charge to all Cathedral members.

WEEKDAYS: Finding a parking space in Downtown Houston can be easy and inexpensive when you plan ahead.

Christ Church Cathedral is a short walk from most of Houston's downtown garages and surface parking lots. It is estimated that almost 25,000 parking spaces are available in a walkable distance for Cathedral events.

Parking Tips to make your trip easier:

Read all signs before you park. Look for signs and banners that designate public parking.

Carry nickels, dimes and quarters for parking meters. Many surface lots are unattended and require payment in advance. Keep some one dollar bills handy.

The best way to explore Downtown is on foot. You might discover a great new shop or restaurant! Please be respectful of neighborhoods and residential areas.

Metered Parking is available Monday through Saturday after 6 pm and all day Sunday at no charge.
