Song of Houston: Past the Checkpoints
February 15 - February 16, 2013
As part of HGOco’s Song of Houston Houston Grand Opera presents Past the Checkpoints, Friday, February 15, 2013 and Saturday, February 16, 2013, at Talento Bilingüe de Houston, 333 S Jensen Dr Houston, TX 77003.
Join Opera to Go! at the premiere of Past the Checkpoints by composer David Hanlon and writer Joann Farías. The opera is based on the real-life experiences of David Moreno, a trumpeter in Mariachi Aztlán, an ensemble of the University of Texas Pan American.
What does it mean to belong? David plays the trumpet and is a young American in every way but one. Through the power of music, he learns how to conquer fear and stand up for what he believes.
With partners Talento Bilingüe de Houston, Multicultural Education and Counseling through the Arts (MECA), and Ripley Teens, we are pleased to present a full weekend of activities to showcase the work of community partners
Admission is free and open to the public. Seating will be first-come, first-served. If you have any questions please call Talento Bilingüe de Houston at (713)222-1213
