Riyaaz Qawwali

University of Houston – Clear Lake presents Riyaaz Qawwali, Friday, November 3 at University of Houston Clear Lake’s Bayou Theater.

In Riyaaz Qawwali, the unique diversity of Texas meets the music of South Asia.  Ensemble members hail from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh.

Riyaaz Qawwali combines traditional works with poetry from famous South Asian poets of multiple linguistic and religious backgrounds (poetic giants like Mirza Ghalib, Amir Khusrow, Bulleh Shah, Sant Kabir and Guru Nanak) to create a universal message of oneness.
