Since their inception in 1996, Artist Trading Cards (or ATCs) have enthralled thousands of people around the world They are miniature works of art about the same size as baseball cards and are produced in various media, including dry media (pencils, pens, markers, etc), wet media (watercolor, acrylic paints, etc), paper media (in the form of collage, papercuts, found objects, etc) or even metals or cloth The cards are usually created in editions of 10 and traded in person or by mail There are groups that meetup in Houston to share their art The fabulous and talented Jim Paras specializes in collage ATC’s using recycled materials (Texas Art Asylum being a terrific source!) Creative Day Camp ArtLab is a one-of-a-kind adventure into kid fun and individual creativity led by Mitch Pengra (a 16-year veteran art teacher at The Parish School) and Thedra Cullar-Ledford (local artist, college art teacher, and owner of Independence Art Studios) Last year was an amazing experience for kids, counselors and teachers alike One student, Grant, said it was “better than chocolate camp!” which we took to be quite a compliment ArtLab is for all kids ages 8-13, but since we customize the experience to match and expand each child’s abilities, interests and experience, we can accept no more than 30 campers We'll divide up into small groups that give us a high teacher-to-student ratio so that no student loses interest while they're waiting for help Compared to other programs in the area, we do more exciting projects at a lower cost to parents We also offer the option to extend the fun until you can pick them up after work When is it? ArtLab runs from Monday, June 4 through Friday, June 22 Camp is from 9 am- 2 pm with extended day available until 5 pm Registration for each week is available, though the kids get more out of the experience by participating in all three weeks because each week builds on the work done in the previous one Where is it? 8 WEEK SUMMER ARTS PROGRAM! During the summer the DDC School of Music has a eight week summer arts program which features Private Music lessons (30 minute sessions); Group Lessons (1 hour sessions-3 student minimum) and our Group Rhythm Section Class (2 hour sessions-based on registration & enrollment) The tuition fee for these eight-week courses shall be $30000 for the group classes (3 student minimum); $35000 for the private individual classes, and $45000 for Rhythm section classes (which will be offered based on enrollment) There is a $7500 registration fee which secures the student spot and a $3500 book & material fee GROUP RHYTHM SECTION CLASSES “PLAYING WITH THE PRO’S” - Rhythms of Motown The Group Rhythm Section Class, “Playing with the Pro’s” is the class designed for rhythm section instrumentalist The class and/or tracks can include Beginner, Intermediate and Advance levels The rhythm section instruments are: Drums, Bass Guitar, Piano, Guitar and Percussion The Advance Track can include a Vocalist or Woodwind/Brass Soloist The Goal of the Group Class, “Playing with the Pro’s,” is to educate beginning, intermediate and advance students to the fine art of playing together and creating good music Because when it is all said and done, there are only two kinds of music, “Good and Bad!” MUSIC APPRECIATION CLASSES DDC School of Music offers Music Appreciation Classes to elementary and early middle school students This program will consist of a four hour morning program (8:30 am – 12:30 pm) This class will include a segment of music theory; group piano, guitar and drum/percussion lessons The fee for each session is $50000 KINDERMUSIK - Kindermusik at DDC School of Music will offer two four week sessions ABC Music & Me for ages 2-4 and 4-6 on Saturday mornings There will also be a 0-18 month class for 8 weeks at $180 or 4 weeks at $100

KD Productions presents the Kd Productions Jr Company Production Class Conducted and designed by certified EC-12 educators, Junior Company is an 8 week acting intensive designed for performers ages 7 to 11 years old This 8 week production class meets once a week in the evenings (in order to more authentically simulate a rehearsal environment) and focuses directly on the skills needed to produce a one act musical theatre play performance Students are expected to make a strict commitment to miss no more than one rehearsal and fully commit to the process of collaborating in a cast setting in order to produce the best show possible both as an individual and as a group Designed with the young actor in mind, we focus on improving basic acting skills such as character creation and character movement in conjunction with helping to develop the singing/speaking voice of company members and their ability to perform dance steps in conjunction with a performance Company members will also be taught and expected to understand at an intermediate level, stagecraft concepts such as blocking, projection and stage direction to help increase confidence and deliver a compelling performance At the end of the three week session the students will be expected to perform 2 productions of Peter Rabbit (musical) featuring adorable characters from the popular Beatrix Potter children’s stories with an edge All students in Company will receive a KD Productions Company T-Shirt and KD Productions will host an after party event following the final performance
