Houston Swing Dance Society

The Houston Swing Dance Society is a non-profit, educational organization, dedicated to the preservation of swing dancing.

Our primary focus is Lindy Hop, America's urban folk dance, the original swing dance that originated in Harlem in the 1920s.

Houston Swing Dance Society's goal is to educate people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds about Lindy Hop through active participation in this dance form.

HSDS would like to invite everyone to come and dance with us. Our members range in age from 11 to 70. They are students and business professionals. It is an ideal environment for all ages because our events are smoke and alcohol free.

Every Sunday our members are here whether they have been dancing for 5 weeks or 5 years. Classes start over every month, so even if you have absolutely no dance experience, you can walk in on the first Sunday of any month and join us. No partner is required.

To support our mission the Houston Swing Dance Society sponsors dance workshops and local dance events including the annual Great Southwest Lindyfest.

The Lindyfest is an extended weekend workshop of classes, lectures, performances and social dances. Lindyfest brings in people from all across the globe to experience the excitement and rich cultural history of the swing era.
