    Virtuosi of Houston, founded in 1996, is a premier youth chamber orchestra for gifted instrumentalists ages 11 to 18. Unlike most youth orchestras, the educational focus is on chamber music and the young musicians benefit from the joint direction of two acclaimed university professors. Because the orchestra is smaller (50 players), Virtuosi of Houston musicians are required to play at an exemplary level.

    Virtuosi of Houston, founded in 1996, is a premier youth chamber orchestra for gifted instrumentalists ages 11 to 18. Unlike most youth orchestras, the educational focus is on chamber music and the young musicians benefit from the joint direction of two acclaimed university professors. Because the orchestra is smaller (50 players), Virtuosi of Houston musicians are required to play at an exemplary level.

    Artistic Directors and Conductors are Franz Anton Krager and Andrzej Grabiec who are faculty members of the University of Houston Moores School of Music and co-founders of the orchestra. The purpose of Virtuosi of Houston is to provide the opportunity for talented young musicians in the Houston area to receive the necessary training and experience to be competitive in the pursuit of a professional career in music.

    The season typically includes two public concerts in Zilkha Hall in the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts in December and May, a major fundraising concert and dinner in April, a concerto competition in February and quartet ensemble recitals performed throughout the season in various venues.

    Rehearsals, which are open to the public, are held in the Virtuosi of Houston Studio located in Memorial City Mall.
