iKi's Sordid Sideshow is an on-going project which brings performance artist together in the style of an old fashioned traveling sideshow.
The project is part performance, part installation, via a large portable circus-esque stage, and completely collaborative. The Sideshow combines burlesque, dance, comedy, music, and sculpture like never before.
Conceived and developed by sculptor and fabricator Troy Stanley and costume designer Amberry Jam; whose resume includes Circ de Soleil and Houston’s Alley Theater. Versions of KiKi’s Sordid Sideshow take place in different venues to raise awareness of this unique endeavor, fundraise for future stage and costuming needs, and to connect performers to each other.
The current incarnation of the stage is modest, but with time and funding we hope to create a large scale sculpture, outrageous enough to compete with the amazing performances taking place on it. The Sideshow is currently a self funded project based out of Houston, TX.
Troy and Amberry’s “CarnieCopia”, a circus themed food tent, is the main support for the Sideshow. “CarnieCopia” travels to different festivals and events, staying true to the carnie life style.
