Houston Center for Contemporary Craft is a nonprofit organization founded to advance education about the process, product and history of craft. The Center’s major emphasis is on objects of art made primarily of fiber, metal, glass, clay and wood.
The Center provides a much-needed venue for exhibition, retail and studio spaces to support the work of local and national artists and to serve as a resource for artists, educators and the community at large.

After more than two years of careful planning by a nine member Board of Directors and Advisory Council of 24 local and national members, Houston Center for Contemporary Craft opened its doors in the fall of 2001with an inaugural exhibition, Defining Craft I: Collecting for the New Millennium, from the collection of the American Craft Museum in New York.

As a resource for both artists and educators, Houston Center for Contemporary Craft offers the community at-large a unique opportunity to experience the excitement of the handmade through workshops, gallery talks, studio demonstrations and educational outreach programs.
