The Miller Theatre Advisory Board (MTAB) acts as a steward of public funds to provide professional-caliber performances, free to the public, at the Miller Outdoor Theatre for the cultural enrichment of Houston's diverse communities and the visitors to this great city.

Miller Theatre Advisory Board (MTAB) is appointed by Houston's Mayor and confirmed by Houston's City Council.

Was so eager to get to Fairfax, VA to see Bayanihan perform, which I hadn't seen since a young child in Manila. So excited, driving up Interstate 95 early because I just couldn't wait to get to the theater! I'll have to say I was LARGELY DISAPPOINTED. Bayanihan, what did you do with OUR dances??? Why did you stylize a tradition (our Filipino suite of dances) that's so beautiful & whole? Leave the hype out of our traditional dances, will you?! WE want to see true Philippine heritage - what did you bring us?! Where was the Itik-Itik...and rolling on the floor in the Pandango sa Ilaw...and the Igorot dance? Can someone interpret that choreo that was like half-Japanese Kabuki/half Filipino??? I brought my American fiancee hoping he'd get a good sampling of Filipino HERITAGE...but all he saw was a group of Filipino dancers who can dance well. Good thing I didn't bring my teenage daughter to show her something of her Filipino culture. And I paid for some really good seats, too. Collapse
