Located in Shenandoah, 3star Inline is home to adult pickup leagues in addition to the Houston High School Inline league, with 10 teams from College Park, The Woodlands, Kingwood, Klein, Klein Collins and Cy Creek. There are also plans for a professional inline team to call Shenandoah home.
With local players already lining up for tryouts in November, the team is tentatively called the Shenandoah Sabre Cats and will be part of the 40-team American Inline Hockey League. Playing in the Gulf Coast region, the Sabre Cats will be competing against teams from Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia and Dallas. The Sabre Cats will also feature a minor league team composed of high schoolers.
“The minor league team will have a lot of the high school players that already play here, so that should be really exciting,” said Steve Szabo, 3star Inline. Szabo said they also have plans to build an ice rink and hope to have it open for business by December 2010.
Not only for the hockey enthusiasts, 3star Inline rink also rents skates for open skating and hosts parties and other activities. With events like an upcoming Halloween party, a time called “Rollers and Strollers” — for moms with young ones looking for a relaxing time during the week — and Friday night skates — with open skating from 7-9 p.m. and youth drop-in hockey from 9:30-11 p.m. — all different age groups can find something that 3star Inline offers.
