Organization

The Education Foundation of Harris County (EFHC) was established in 1994 as a 501c3 organization working in partnership with the Harris County Department of Education. The EFHC supports innovative educational initiatives within the 26 Independent School Districts in Harris County. EFHC's mission creating opportunities for all children promotes its vision that every child can learn and succeed given opportunity and education. EFHC is recognized by educators and corporate leaders for its funding of innovative programs addressing contemporary opportunities in the field of public school education.

Education Foundation of Harris County (EFHC) is an efficient conduit for corporate philanthopy, private charity and grant makers seeking to directly support public school classroom teachers and leverage their investments. Approximately 880,000 students are enrolled in grades K-12 in Harris County public schools. For comparison’s sake, New York City public schools enroll 1.1 million children.

EFHC focuses its revenues on science teaching and teachers, robotics educators, music instructors and after-school education.
