Foelber Pottery started in 1979 with a group of craftsmen making unique, intricately carved and pierced lanterns. Each piece was created by a team of potters: one person would throw a form on the potters wheel, another would fashion the design, another would apply the glaze, and another would load and fire the kiln. The work was sold at various art and crafts festivals in Texas and as far away as Florida.
