Major Partners

SBC Excelerator, the SBC Foundation's signature initiative, funds projects that use technology to build stronger communities. SBC Excelerator grants help organizations connect some of the nation's neediest residents — including at-risk youth and underserved urban families — to important community resources, such as hands-on computer training, Internet access, math and reading classes, and job skills programs. Grants are provided to organizations focussing on the following areas: education, community development, health and human services, or arts and culture.

The City of Houston

The City of Houston's Convention & Entertainment Facilities (C&E) Department manages more than 10 City-owned buildings and plazas and underground and surface parking for nearly 7,000 vehicles. These facilities include the George R. Brown Convention Center, Jones Hall, Wortham Theater Center, Houston Center for the Arts, Talento Bilingue de Houston, Jones Plaza, Miller Outdoor Theatre and other smaller venues. The department also administers contracts between the city and the Houston Arts Alliance and the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau (GHCVB). For many years, the City Council has entered into an agreement that allows the Houston Arts Alliance to promote the arts and provide grants to nearly 200 artists and organizations. The Houston Arts Alliance receives a substantial amount of its operating and grant money through its contract with the city.
