About the artist:
Dominika Dancewicz is a native of Poland. As an orchestra musician she performed on world’s most prestigious concert stages including the Berlin Philharmonic, Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, the National Library in Vienna, Royal Festival Hall in London, Salle Pleyel in Paris, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and Carnegie Hall in New York. Ms. Dancewicz received degrees in violin performance from Krakow Music Academy in Poland, Rice University Shepherd School of Music and Denver University Lamont School of Music. Professional career of Ms. Dancewicz spans through a number of prominent professional orchestras and ensembles in Poland and in the United States, professional chamber music groups, solo performances and notable teaching experience. Ms.Dancewicz served as assistant concertmaster of Sinfonietta Cracovia, she was also selected to join the project of one of the greatest contemporary pianists – Krystian Zimerman – Polish Festival Orchestra (PFO), which traveled throughout Europe and the United States performing Chopin’s two Piano Concertos with Krystian Zimerman as soloist. Ms. Dancewicz participated in the recording of the Chopin concertos for Deutsche Grammophon label. Ms. Dancewicz is an active chamber musician. She spent several months in Japan performing with Polish String Quartet. She is the initiator and organizer of the unique chamber music concert series in Houston, where carefully selected, exciting music is presented in non-traditional venues. She has worked with several chamber music groups in Houston – most notably as first violinist of the Meridian Ensemble String Quartet. She served as principal second violin of Orchestra X and Houston Chamber Orchestra. She was also a member of Colorado’s Boulder Philharmonic and Boulder Chamber Orchestra. She has performed with Houston’s River Oaks Chamber Orchestra, Houston Ballet, Foundation for Modern Music, Opera Vista, Masquerade Theater, Musiqua Houston, Shreveport Symphony and Victoria Bach Festival.
