Eddie Lewis is a multi-talented musician who maintains a vibrant and stylistically diverse career as a freelance trumpet player in Houston, Texas. But being a top call trumpeter is only part of what makes Eddie's career so intriguing. Lewis is also recognized as composer, teacher, and author. He has composed over three hundred original works for various brass and jazz ensemble instrumentations, and serves as an arranger for local Houston bands. Eddie has also been active as a music educator for over twenty-five years: teaching private lessons (Lewis Studios), and presenting clinics, master classes, and workshops. Eddie's teaching experience extends to include five years as the jazz improvisation instructor at Houston’s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. As a writer, Eddie has authored a variety of music articles and written sixteen music books, ten of which are still in print. His latest book, "Chops Express" was released at the end of 2010. As a performer, Lewis works with as many as fifty bands each year. Eddie has decades of experience playing jazz, classical music, salsa (and other tropical music), rhythm and blues, tejano, and klezmer music. Besides performing, composing, and teaching, Eddie Lewis also finds time to remain active as a studio player. His trumpet work can be heard on Chicanismo by Little Joe and La Familia, which won a Grammy in the 2005 Tejano category for that year.
