Dick Moiel & Kathy Poeppel
Writer
About the artist: Dick Moiel and Kathy Poeppel's interest in glass began with collecting. The retired physician and his PA/RN wife enrolled in their first Glassblowing class in Junction, Texas in the summer of 1994.
With the invaluable help and guidance of their instructor Bob Mosier, they built a basic hot shop. In March of 1995 the "Finest Glassblowing Studio at 610 Jackson Hill" was melting glass!
During the climate friendly months (October through April), the couple blows decorative and functional objects. The summer months are devoted to studio maintenance, taking classes, kiln casting and cold working projects, glass casting & Stone wheel glass carving & etching on previously crafted work.
In an effort to raise public awareness to the joy and magic of hot glass, the studio offers demonstrations, hosts visiting artists, and collaborates with local artists who want to introduce glass to their work.
