Bollywood Cinema 6 (FunAsiA)
Bollywood Cinema 6 is a movie theater that features films from Bollywood.Pyramid Saimira Entertainment America Inc (PSEA) was incorporated in Sep 2007 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pyramid Saimira Theatre Limited, India. PSEA was formed to cater to the growing entertainment needs of the affluent South Asian community in North America with exhibition as its primary focus.PSEA’s concept is to provide a multimedia venue for ethnic and mainstream marketers trying to reach the affluent South Asia community. The concept is uniquely suited to South Asians in North America, who comprise persons of Indian, Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan descent. It offers them a place for their community events, like weddings, receptions, concerts, televised cricket matches, plus the type of films that appeal to them, and additional media, such as radio and print, that cater to their tastes in entertainment. In a culture of arranged marriages, PSEA plans to provide a video conference service popular between men and women who may be thousands of miles apart but want to get to know each other better without revealing contact or other sensitive personal information. As a first step, PSEA acquired FunAsiA in September 2007. Founded in September, 2002, and based in Richardson Texas, FunAsiA is a unique entertainment concept that blends movie theaters, banquet halls and community events center that cater to South Asians—a multimedia venue for ethnic and mainstream marketers trying to reach the affluent South Asia community. FunAsiA had an interesting eco system of theaters showing Bollywood and other Indian language movies, banquet halls, radio stations and a magazine called as DesiPages. As of 9/30/07, FunAsiA operated theater-entertainment complexes in Irving and Richardson, Texas, and two in Houston, along with FunAsiA radio, KHSE-AM 700, which covers the entire Dallas-Fort Worth area and is streamed over the Internet, The Company also publishes DesiPages, a glossy, thick monthly magazine more than five years old. As of 9/30/07, 15,000 copies of DesiPages were distributed free throughout South Asian communities in Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston.PSEA intends to spread its concept by acquiring theaters in other major metros, and build an ecosystem around these theaters. Since acquiring FunAsiA, PSEA has set its foot in Chicago (2 locations), Maryland-DC-Virginia (1 location) and is doing simulcast during drive time hours in Houston. PSEA will leverage the existing brand presence of “FunAsiA†to expand the entertainment venues and multimedia outlets rapidly throughout the United States and Canada. As a part of expansion, PSEA will be looking to grow both organically and inorganically.
