Institute of Hispanic Culture
The Institute serves the Houston community through a wide range of cultural and educational programs, which are provided free of charge or at a very nominal cost and may be in collaborations with local universities or other cultural organizations.
These cultural activities, which are supported in part by a matching grant by the City of Houston and the Texas Commission for the Arts through the Cultural Arts Council of Houston/Harris County, include:
Visual arts and sculptures exhibits;
Historical, literary, linguistic, folklore, social studies and business arts lectures;
Theatre, poetry, dance and musical presentations.
The Institute of Hispanic Culture, due to the donations and dedication of its members and patrons, especially the late Mr. Keith Jackson, owns its building.
The site was renovated by generous grants from foundations, such as the Houston Endowment and the Strake Foundation and from individuals. Today, the Institute of Hispanic Culture of Houston continues to preserve, enhance and promulgate the Hispanic culture and language.
