Museum of Fine Arts - Audrey Jones Beck Building

Designed by architect Rafael Moneo, the Audrey Jones Beck Building opened to acclaim in March 2000. It represents the first major museum commission in the United States for Moneo, the 1996 recipient of architecture's highest honor, the Pritzker Prize. Among the Beck Building's exterior signatures are a series of rooftop lanterns that provide natural lighting for many of the galleries. The New York Times hailed the building as a "stunning surprise: a museum filled with an explosion of overhead natural light and major artworks."

Two specially commissioned, monumental bronze reliefs by Joseph Havel, titled Curtain, flank the building's principal entrance, welcoming you to the MFAH's newest architectural masterpiece. The Beck Building lobby leads into a soaring, light-filled atrium, from which you can access the galleries on the other floors. Antiquities and European art are presented in 28 classically designed galleries on the second floor.

Galleries for prints, drawings, photographs, and American art, and a sculpture court reaching more than 70 feet to its skylit roof, are located on the first floor. These floors also features extensive galleries designated for exhibitions. A tunnel featuring James Turrell's The Light Inside joins the Beck and Law Buildings at the lower level.

    Museum Parking Garage
    Located directly east of the Beck and Law buildings, the MFAH Visitors Center features a four-story covered parking garage.
    
    The easy-to-find parking entrance is on Binz, marked by a large, yellow arrow.
    
    You're always protected from the elements when you park your car in the Museum Garage. From there, you can go to the Visitors Center lobby and find a ticketing desk and up-to-the minute museum information.
    
    As an added convenience, you can enter the Beck and Law buildings from the Visitors Center through security-monitored, climate-controlled tunnels connecting all three buildings.
