Spacetaker Gallery at Fresh Arts (formerly Spacetaker Artist Resource Center (ARC))

    Comment on Facebook

The Artist Resource Center (ARC) is a supportive physical space for young and emerging artists where Spacetaker hosts career-building classes and workshops, as well as fosters artists though affordable space rental for rehearsals, exhibitions and special events.

At the ARC, artists can utilize the latest technology (with the aid of our experts) to facilitate their projects. Whether it's capturing art digitally so it can be up-loaded onto the world-wide-web, helping an artist craft a polished artist statement, or creating slideshow presentations, the ARC allows artistic endeavors to reach fruition. Through our ARC services (including photography, design, and consultation), we have been able to help hundreds of artists realize his or her vision.

The ARC hosts both career-specific workshops, as well as those focusing on business of art. In the fall of 2008, Spacetaker kicked off a partnership with Amegy Bank by presenting a series of financial literacy workshops designed to help artists manage their finances, successfully build their business, and utilize entrepreneurial skills in their artistic careers. We aim to develop a comprehensive series of professional development workshops to be implemented in 2009.

UPDATE APRIL 2012: Spacetaker and Fresh Arts Coalition are merging. The new organization will operate from the former Spacetaker office & gallery inside Winter Street Studios and will continue using Spacetaker.org as the website in the immediate future. The new organization’s name will be Fresh Arts but the gallery will continue to be known as the Spacetaker Gallery as a tribute to David A. Brown, the founder of Spacetaker.
