The Imperial Theatre
MPERIAL PERFORMING ARTS is proud to announce the opening of Sugar Land's first professional performing arts space, THE IMPERIAL THEATRE in Sugar Land Town Square, for the 2010-11 Season. How sweet it is!
THE IMPERIAL THEATRE is located at 2210 Lone Star Drive in Sugar Land Town Square, next door to Z Gallerie, and across Lone Star Drive from Jos. A. Bank.
Sugar Land Mayor James Thompson, along with his wife Gay Thompson (who serve together on IPA's Advisory Board), says, "We are excited about Imperial Performing Arts. IPA will bring entertainment, education, and social and cultural development to us all. We are honored to participate in, and enjoy the benefits of their success."
THE IMPERIAL THEATRE is 5,446 square feet of prime retail space in Sugar Land's most highly visible and well-traveled area - Sugar Land Town Square. Mr. E. G. (Bud) Friedman of Fort Bend Real Estate Corporation represented Imperial Performing Arts, and Mr. Charles Adams represented Planned Community Developers.
The finished space will be fully equipped for professional performances, and will include a box office, private teaching and rehearsal studios, a main stage performance area, lobby space for pre-event cocktails and refreshments served by Sugar Land's finest restaurants, and ample facilities for performers and patrons.
The 2010-11 Season will include professional productions of opera, theatre, and concerts, film screenings, and arts education activities, and will feature local and national professional performing artists.
Edward Crowell, Executive Director of Imperial Performing Arts, says, "This is a great day for IPA, and a great day for Sugar Land. The City of Sugar Land has been one of the top places to live in the U. S. for several years, and as early as 1999 residents expressed an interest in developing new local opportunities in education, culture, and entertainment. In 2008 I was honored to lead a group of Sugar Land residents, dedicated to the development of our City's cultural and performing arts, in founding Sugar Land's first resident professional performing arts company, Imperial Performing Arts, Inc., as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, domiciled in Sugar Land, Texas."
