    The Texas Rep celebrated its first birthday on paper in February of 2005 with the addition of Robert Eubanks to the staff as Resident Designer for the company. Robert, along with input from the rest of the staff, designed the theatre space for the company. In Summer of 2005, as The Texas Rep was looking for a found space to convert into a theatre home, fortune smiled again in the form of a new construction that was being planned on Stuebner Airline Road, and which was perfectly planned to accept the kind of build-out necessary to support the theatre’s needs. As fall of 2005 was upon us, the first grant applications went out, our sponsor-a-seat campaign was moving ahead, plans for the theatre were developing, ground was about to be broken, and a season brochure was on its way to an unsuspecting and brand new audience in north Houston!On February 17th, as the concrete stain was still curing on the lobby floor, and water was just being turned on, the Fire Marshall did her walk-through of the building for our final inspection, which we could only hope would end in the approval of our occupancy certificate. At 2:30 pm, she signed and stamped “Approval” on the certificate. At 7:00 pm that evening, our first patron walked through the door for the opening night of Our Town. We were in business – and in awe. This newly built theatre boasts a 7,500 sq. ft. Performance Center that includes an elegant lobby, 270 –seat performance space with stadium seating, and a scene shop with loading dock. The theatre is equipped with state-of-the-art lighting and sound, with special audience amenities like extra wide seating and generous legroom. Located in the Champions / Willowbrook area, The Texas Repertory Theatre is the premier theatre facility located in NW Houston.
