Battlefields. Battleships. Books. Whether entertaining a client, taking a field trip or just spending time with the kids—a visit to the San Jacinto Museum of History is a time to remember!
About 20 miles east of downtown, the San Jacinto battleground marks the spot where Texas won its independence from Mexico. This is the battlefield that gave birth to the American West at The San Jacinto Battleground Historical Complex.
The complex houses the towering San Jacinto Monument, the San Jacinto Museum of History and Battleship Texas.
The true story of the battle is told in Texas Forever!! the Battle of San Jacinto in the Jesse H. Jones Theater. The battleship, which was commissioned in 1914, was presented to the people of Texas as the first memorial ship in 1948.
Experience the world's TALLEST memorial column, and discover our State's past among the museum's exhibits and antiquities. Tour the historic Battleship Texas-once the most powerful weapon in the world.
