Eleanor Tinsley Park

With its sloping hills and lush trees, this park is a great place to relax. Picnic tables are sunken into some of the hills to make for a unique setting. Some are also covered, which is handy in case of a sudden downpour.

A number of festivals hold court here every year. The annual Earth Day Fest is a regular draw, as is the Bob Marley Festival. Also finding a home in Eleanor Tinsley Park is the relocated Westheimer Street Festival. The layout of this park makes for some interesting strolls. It's set along Buffalo Bayou and is adjacent to the Bayou's scenic ArtPark (featuring a host of sculptures and other art pieces). Trails lead from the Bayou into Eleanor Tinsley, and a stairway leads to a cement island where visitors can catch some sun.

The park was named in honor of Eleanor Tinsley, a City of Houston Council Member At-Large from 1980 to 1990, who championed many proposals to improve the quality of every day life in the City.
