Comment on Facebook The Briar Club is a member-owned recreational and social club where a community of families and individuals enjoys the highest standards in aquatics, fitness, tennis, children’s programs, and quality cuisine. All programs are presented in attractive surroundings and a comfortable atmosphere, with superior service provided by a highly competent professional staff.
The Briar Club's history is synonymous with entertaining from its inception. Originally beginning as the Coral Club, this era evokes memories of liquor-by-the-glass (before it was legal), dining, dancing, and even gambling. That "Good 'Ole Boy" philosophy evolved to the desired family club it is today when a group of young professionals created the vision of family bonding and enjoyable food combined with swimming, tennis, and dancing.
The Briar Club was officially created as a not-for-profit Texas corporation in 1949.
Now entering 57 years of well-balanced Club traditions, The Briar Club offers outstanding amenities including a new 18,000 sq. foot state-of-the-art Fitness Center with spa amenities. Designed by Kirksey Architects, this comprehensive facility offers the latest in exercise equipment, an elaborate Reformer Pilates studio, steam rooms, massage therapy, and complete sports pro shop. Our superior staff includes Olympic athletes, dynamic motor skill professionals, and world-renowned sports trainers. Seven tennis courts, a large heated family pool, a heated, six lane, 25 meter lap pool and a sports pavilion featuring basketball, volleyball, and covered sports area make The Briar Club Houston's inner city recreational destination a place for families, seniors, and singles.
Prestigiously located near River Oaks, West University Place, Bellaire, the Museum District, and Galleria areas, the Club occupies five full acres.
Culturally, The Briar Club offers exquisite dining. The Club features the Gastronomique Club which is dedicated to educational fine dining. Additionally, memorable occasions are created weekly with the Club's expertise in wedding and event specialty designs.

The main club dining facility is closed on Mondays for all food and beverage service. -
