Barbara Davis is pleased to announce the move of Barbara Davis Gallery to its new gallery space at 4411 Montrose beginning April 16, 2005. Premier architect Peter Zweig designed the 4411 building. Lauren Rottet, internationally renowned architect-designer, of DMJM Rottet created my gallery space.

"It has been a dream of mine to have a space like this for many years," said Barbara Davis. "The gallery has two exhibition spaces. The larger room has the feeling of a kunsthalle and will allow me to do larger projects. The entry exhibition space is also quite large, but has an unusual intimacy to it."

For more than 25 years Barbara Davis Gallery has brought groundbreaking contemporary art to Houston. Driven by her intuitive sensibilities and perennially fresh vision, Barbara Davis has championed a generation of significant contemporary artists. In the process she has challenged a generation of art collectors, both seasoned and aspiring, to see the beauty and value in their work.

She has launched the careers of international artists such as Julie Mehretu, Shahziah Sikander, and Mie Olise, having given Julie Mehretu her first gallery exhibition and Danish painter Mie Olise her first U.S. exhibition. She has also brought to Houston the influential names of Joseph Beuys, Kiki Smith, Jonathan Borofsky, and Allan McCollum as well as many others. Barbara Davis Gallery was one of the first Texas galleries to be included in the influential and prestigious Art Basel Miami Beach art fair.

The gallery’s exhibitions have been reviewed in international publications such as ArtForum, Art in America, Art News, Flash Art International, and the New York Times. Her commitment to exhibiting innovative contemporary art has established her as one of the most progressive and discerning galleries.
